Prospective PhD students: I am recruiting PhD students to start in Fall 2027 (applications due in December 2026). Please apply directly to the Biomedical Engineering or Computer Science PhD program. To make sure I see your application, list my name (Tavor Baharav) as a faculty member you are interested in working with on the application form. I look primarily for students with a strong probability/statistics, CS, or engineering background. Biology experience is not necessary, but interest in biological applications and a desire to ground research in practice are a must. Familiarity with genomics is a plus. You do not need to email me before you apply; the department application process is the best way to be considered for a position in the lab, and I am unlikely to reply to emails before admissions decisions.
